CBA's Out and About Archaeology

Out and About Archaeology is all about exploring the archaeology that is all around you, whether that is in the town or countryside or whether you are exploring outdoors or from the comfort of home.

The CBA's Out and About Archaeology takes place annually in May although many of the activities such as the maps here are available to access all year round. You can find out more via the Out and About Archaeology pages on the CBA website.

How to use the maps

Once you have opened the map, to start the walk click on the first waypoint (on the left-hand side of the screen if you are on a computer or at the bottom of your screen on a mobile device). As you move through the walk click on the different waypoints to travel along the virtual map and click on the information points (a letter i in a circle) to find out more about the features along the way through text, photos and video clips.

Reconnecting Archaeology

Out and About archaeology is part of the CBA's 'Reconnecting Archaeology project'. Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project aims to help connect archaeology to a wider audience and to help break down barriers to engagement faced by marginalised groups and communities. Visit our website to find out more about Reconnecting Archaeology.
